Child joined the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties in 2020 as the border litigation fellow, where her work focuses on holding U.S. Customs and Border Protection accountable for its civil and human rights abuses in the southern border region. Child earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara and her Juris Doctor from the University of California, Davis School of Law. At UCD, she received a certificate in immigration law and recognition for her commitment to public service and pro bono work. Child was also involved with the Immigration Law Clinic, where she worked to defend the rights of detained unaccompanied youth, externed with California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation’s Removal Defense Project, and worked on civil litigation protecting asylum access at the ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project. Prior to law school, she lived and worked in Cusco, Peru and Antigua, Guatemala.
