One Year of Prop 36: Treatment Stalled, Justice Denied

One year ago, California voters passed Proposition 36, a ballot measure sponsored by retailers including Target, Walmart, and Home Depot, as well as the California Correctional Peace Officers Association (representing prison guards) and California District Attorneys Association.

U.S. Supreme Court Grants Stay in L.A. Raids Case

Today, the Supreme Court granted the federal government’s request for a stay (or pause) of a temporary restraining order (TRO) prohibiting federal agencies–including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)–from continuing their unlawful actions in Los Angeles and surrounding counties.

ACLU Statement on Govt. Application to Supreme Court in L.A. Raids Case

Today, the Trump administration filed an application for review at the U.S. Supreme Court in Vasquez Perdomo v. Noem, asking the high court to lift the temporary order currently barring federal agencies—including DHS—from continuing their unlawful actions in Los Angeles and surrounding counties.
