Today, the ACLU of San Diego’s Border Litigation Project sent a complaint letter to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, protesting CBP’s denial of food to asylum seekers awaiting credible fear interviews at the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

Last week, CBP officials (including supervisors) denied a disabled, transgender Mexican asylum seeker food for over 30 hours while she awaited processing at the port.  CBP officials likewise verbally abused the asylum seeker and her lawyer.

Such behavior is a violation of the U.S. Constitution and CBP’s national policies, and cannot be tolerated.
