A proposed policy to regulate military recruiting activities in San Diego schools is coming up for a vote at the Nov. 30 San Diego Unified School Board meeting—and we need your help to get it passed!

Currently, students at some San Diego high schools—generally those in poorer neighborhoods—are exposed to constant visits from military recruiters, while students at other schools see more college recruiters. Students are frequently approached and asked for their contact information by aggressive military recruiters in class, at special assemblies, and even at lunch.

The proposed policy will allow equal access for career and college recruiters, and limit all recruiters to no more than two site visits per year.

The board has already had a first reading of the policy—and here’s where we need you! The school board meets Tuesday, Nov. 30, 5 p.m. at the Education Center Auditorium – 4100 Normal St., in Hillcrest.

Your presence will have a huge impact, so please attend the meeting if at all possible! For more information, please contact Education Not Arms Coalition, or send an email or call 760-634-3604.
