23rd Annual All People's Breakfast
January 17, 2011
7:30 a.m.
San Diego Convention Center, Downtown

Celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The All People’s Breakfast is held each year on the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday. Founded in the 1970s by a coalition of local civil rights, labor, and faith leaders, the Breakfast serves to honor Dr. King by providing the time and space to reflect, memorialize, and sustain his compelling legacy.

For more than 20 years, this singular event has offered San Diegans the occasion to come together in celebration of shared values of peace, tolerance, and equality for all people. It is the region’s largest annual convening of organizations and individuals who care and work toward these critical civic ideals.

This year's theme is The Media and the Movement: From apathy to activism, media as a force for social change. The keynote address will be delivered by Jehmu Greene, president of the Women’s Media Center, a New York-based, national nonprofit organization working to ensure women are powerfully and visibly represented in the media. Morris Casuto, recently retired regional director of the San Diego Anti-Defamation League, will be honored with the 2011 San Diego Human Relations Commission’s Ashley L. Walker Social Justice Award.
