Bio
Prior to joining the ACLU-SDIC in 2025, Nalini Gupta worked for 10 years as a legal and policy advisor for the Defense Advisory Committee on Sexual Assault in the Armed Forces (DAC-IPAD), a federal advisory committee that examined the military’s response to sexual assault. In that role, she focused on improving legal processes for victims and accused servicemembers, examining racial, ethnic, and gender disparities in the administration of military justice, and drafting and presenting the committee’s work and recommendations to agency stakeholders and Congress.
Nalini grew up in New Jersey and completed her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, where she obtained an A.B. in public and international affairs. She later obtained a J.D. from New York University School of Law. In addition to her work at the ACLU, Nalini teaches legal analysis and writing to international law students at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland and Catholic University in Washington, DC. She is committed to defending civil liberties and advancing human rights through legislative change and community engagement.
