Jeffrey Alonzo Karahamuheto joined the ACLU-SDIC as the organizing and political director in November 2022. In this role, he leads the affiliate’s grassroots organizing infrastructure and electoral programming. Jeff has spent his career working on a variety of issues including policing, housing, immigration and education.

Prior to joining the ACLU-SDIC, Jeff was the lead organizer of the San Diego Organizing Project, a collaborative network of spiritual and faith communities working with people directly impacted by racial and economic inequities. While there, he led the organizing strategy for San Diego County, working with community members and faith institutions to bridge lines of difference and create a more joyous and equitable community for all.

Jeff holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Merced and was a 2022 University of California, San Diego Black Studies Project Fellow. When he’s not working with community members to create change, he's cycling around town or eating way too much pizza.
