Bio
Kamilah Arteaga is a first-generation Latina from the Bay Area and proud daughter of Mexican immigrants.
She graduated from Stanford University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in comparative studies in race and ethnicity and a minor in Chican@/Latin@ studies. While at Stanford, she was a part of many academic and creative communities, including the Stanford Concert Network, Ballet Folklorico de Stanford, The Stanford Daily and Stanford's public radio station, KZSU 90.1 FM.
A storyteller and activist at heart, she has also volunteered extensively, including as a creative writing tutor for students from underserved communities in San Francisco and as a hotline volunteer at Freedom For Immigrants, the nation’s only hotline for people detained in immigrant detention centers.
Most recently she worked as a program assistant at the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center, where, through digital and in-person community engagement, she helped to grow no-cost programs that support underrepresented communities to start or grow their small business.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, going to concerts, traveling, playing soccer, and spending time with friends and family.
