Bio

Raised in Calipatria, Melissa M. Lopez brings more than 18 years of strategic marketing communications experience in an agency setting. As a native Imperial County resident, her desire for equity and justice in the region inspired her to join the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties as communications strategist. 
 
Before joining ACLU-SDIC, Melissa served as production director/media coordinator for Conveyor Group, an Imperial-based integrated marketing agency developing strategic campaigns, marketing, public relations, community relations and message development. 

Previously, she was a public relations account executive with LAGRANT Communications. She also served as programs manager for The LAGRANT Foundation, managing public relations outreach, scholarship/internship programs and the annual scholarship events. 
 
She is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach, with a degree in Journalism and a major in Public Relations. Melissa is currently the president of the Imperial County Film Commission, is active in the Public Relations Society of America San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter and a member of the Hispanic Public Relations Association – Los Angeles.
