Beginning in 2026, Imperial County will be transitioning from traditional voting sites to Vote Centers.
Traditional polling sites used in the past on Election Day will be replaced with Vote Centers open for multiple days in a row. Under the Vote Center model, voters can go to any Vote Center in Imperial County to vote in person and receive assistance.
Why did this change occur?
The California Voter's Choice Act became law in 2016 to make voting more convenient and accessible.
You Choose how to vote Whether using the mail, a drop box, or a voter center, you choose the method that works best for you.
You Choose when to vote Instead of just one day to vote, you can vote in person at Vote Centers throughout Imperial County when they open – including weekends – ending on Election Day at 8pm
You Choose where you vote You can vote in person at any Vote Center in Imperial County, you are no longer required to go to your assigned polling location.
You get the support you need Vote Center staff will onsite and be available to help voters, including assistance in multiple languages and support for those with disabilities using accessible voting machines. In addition, new voters will be able to register to vote and vote the same day.
Every active registered voter will receive a ballot in the mail the week of May 4. You have options on how you’d like to cast your ballot:
You may complete your ballot in the comfort of your home, sign and date your return envelope, seal your completed ballot inside, and return it by mail or at any official ballot drop box:
Mail It: Return it promptly through the U.S. Postal Service; or
Drop It Off: Starting Tuesday, May 5, you’ll have the option of dropping off your ballot at any of the Registrar’s official ballot drop boxes located throughout the county.
Visit: If you would rather vote in person, that option is available too. Take advantage of one of the ten days of early in-person voting!
Starting Saturday, May 23, select vote centers will be open daily from 8 am to 5 pm.
Starting Saturday, May 30, all vote centers will be open daily from 8 am to 5 pm
